For over five years we have been travelling - three times a year - to Colonet, Mexico, a small farming town 70 miles south of Ensenada in Baja California. Mountainside's team brings food, clothing, and the Word of God in songs, service, and love (mostly to the children).
We have visited many farms (Ranchos) that have migrant workers, many of whom are the native Indians from the interior of Mexico. They live in Camps (housing provided by the Ranchos) of 20 to 1,200 people during the harvest season in remote areas where produce is grown.
Life in Colonet, Mexico remains difficult in many ways. The warm meal, good clothing, and love that we bring are appreciated beyond what we in America can fully understand. The Word of God is living, powerful, and able to overcome cultural barriers to touch the heart of many people in Colonet as well as many who participate in this worthy effort. |
